One seated figure, reflected fourfold in the silver eye of a mirror, makes up a repeating composition disrupted only by a single, deliberate split down the middle. The two images splice into one, held together beneath the weight of time.
Printed during the HOS residency at Mona, this signed monochromatic print draws intimacy from stillness and dissonance alike.
Elise Wouters is a Belgian photographer and writer based in between London and Athens. Her work examines the poetics of place, solitude, memory and self-representation. Through her darkroom handprinting, she explores the physicality of photography, resulting in unique pieces that carry traces of their journey.
