These classic leather sandals featuring a splash of silk are hand-crafted in Athens, Greece, by a second-generation sandal maker using leather from the island of Crete.

The ankle ties are made from silk from Soufli, a Greek town renowned for its history as one of the most important hubs for silk production and trade in Europe. Their ombré effect of several colours is achieved using natural dyes by studio Christiana Vardakou. The yellow comes from chamomile, the orange from madder roots, and the grey from acorn cupules.

These versatile silk ties are removable, making them adaptable to a chic hair accessory, scarf, or as an extra accent tied to a handbag.

LEFKO was founded by Joanne Low and Mihalis Ignatiadis in 2019 as ‘a love letter from Singapore to Greece.’ Since then, the label has become known for their ethical production practices and their designs that balance simplicity and sophistication. All of their items are made across Athens in Greek-owned ateliers and designed from their studio in Singapore.

Lefko’s sole seamstress Shafi, originally from Tajikistan, honed her tailoring skills in Iran and came to Greece through the refugee camp on the island of Lesvos. In collaborating with artisans like Shafi, LEFKO aims to preserve the crafts and traditions of Greece while honouring the craftsman behind the work.

With the founders being a former supply chain consultant and an industrial designer – LEFKO’s supply chain is clean and simple, only creating timeless pieces with Greek silk from Soufli and Belgian linen from Libeco. Every item is traceable through its production processes back to its origins.

Lorem ipsum, or lipsum as it is sometimes known, is dummy text used in laying out print, graphic or web designs. The passage is attributed to an unknown typesetter in the 15th century who is thought to have scrambled parts of Cicero’s De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum for use in a type specimen book.

To care for these leather sandals and their silk ties, gently wipe the leather with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt or dust.

Avoid soaking or submerging the sandals in water, as this can damage both the leather and silk.

Spot clean the silk wraps with a mild soap solution and a soft cloth, then air dry completely, away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.

Store in a cool, dry place – ideally in a dust bag to provide best protection for the materials. Avoid exposure to oils or lotions, as they may stain or weaken the silk ties.
