TERRACOTTA
The name ‘terracotta’ literally translates to ‘cooked earth’. Yet Valia Kap textile interpretation of this classic ceramic technique appears like the air itself has spun into the shape of an artifact. There is breath and sandy flux, a wash of motion and fading form. It’s part earthenware and part dream object, a tender ode to change and impermanence.
We imagine this handcrafted artwork as the centrepiece to a light room accentuated by natural textures and sun-warmed stone.
Valia Kap is a textile designer and artist based in Athens, Greece.
She holds a degree in Textile Design from the London College of Fashion and has previously worked with Iris van Herpen as a textile developer.
Her practice explores the transformative potential of materials through textile experimentation and handcrafted processes. Drawing inspiration from organic forms and natural textures, she creates installations and sculptural textiles that engage with light, transparency and spatial perception.
Working from her studio in Athens, Valia continues to develop projects that merge art, design and material research. Her work has been presented in various exhibitions and creative collaborations in Greece and abroad.

This sculpture is made of acrylic paint on cotton canvas and should be handled with the same care one would show a painting. Avoid water and place outside of excessive humidity. A fine duster may be used to clean it.
