Like negatives from a getaway tryst or early century tests in light and shadow, London- and Athens-based photographer and writer Elise Wouters’ “Silhouettes” reaches across emotive time and space.
These silver gelatin handprints on satin paper open windows to imagined moments, as if from half-remembered dreams. Bodies and objects, photographed during the HOS artist residency at Mona, become studies in contrast between what lives and what fades into the silk of memory.
Elise Wouters is a Belgian photographer and writer based in between London and Athens. Her work examines the poetics of place, solitude, memory and self-representation. Through her darkroom handprinting, she explores the physicality of photography, resulting in unique pieces that carry traces of their journey.
Lorem ipsum, or lipsum as it is sometimes known, is dummy text used in laying out print, graphic or web designs. The passage is attributed to an unknown typesetter in the 15th century who is thought to have scrambled parts of Cicero’s De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum for use in a type specimen book.
